Guide · Stop 01

Your first day in Lagos

From your first sign-in to your first city stop — with a checklist you can keep beside the game.

The two-minute version

  • Open lagoslife.app in Chrome or Safari. If you tapped a link inside TikTok, Instagram or X, switch to a real browser first — in-app browsers are where most "it won’t load" stories begin. iPhones need iOS 16.4 or newer.
  • Sign up free and build your Lagosian: look, personality and a dream to chase.
  • Survive the birth lottery. It decides whether you start in Lekki or Mushin.
  • Get a job from your in-game phone, keep your six needs topped up and pay rent every Saturday. That’s the whole loop — everything else builds on it.

The birth lottery

You don’t choose how you start — the server rolls it, and there is no reroll button. Everyone checks.

🕶️ Nepo Baby500,000 starting cash

Lekki flat, Daddy’s Prado, branch-manager job.

Lekki Phase 1 mini-flat · 17,000/week rent

🧾 LAPO Baby · Mushin76,000 starting cash

Microfinance loan, a face-me-I-face-you room, a weekly repayment.

Mushin face-me-I-face-you · 2,400/week rent

🧾 LAPO Baby · Yaba96,000 starting cash

Same loan, but a Yaba self-contain and a higher rent.

Yaba self-contain · 6,000/week rent

🎓 UNILAG Fresher14,000 starting cash

A hall bed, a tiny allowance, and a degree that pays off later.

UNILAG hall of residence · 1,200/week rent

A Nepo Baby has the easiest first week by a mile — about ₦157,500 from five shifts with no rent or loan to pay. But LAPO Babies and freshers learn every skill 25% faster, and skills unlock promotions. Play the long game and the gap closes. Full numbers in the Nepo vs LAPO calculator.

Week one, stop by stop

Most new players don’t go broke because the game is hard. They go broke because they discovered Quilox on day two. Here’s the route through week one as a LAPO Baby in Mushin, where the bills come to ₦14,400 a week — ₦2,400 rent plus a ₦12,000 loan repayment.

01
Day 1

Apply for a job

Banking pays ₦11,600 a shift at level 1 and needs no skill to apply. It is the easiest first job in the city.

02
Day 2

Finish the shift

Leaving early cuts your pay — half a shift is not half the pay. Win 4 tasks in a shift for a 15% bonus.

03
Day 3

Train one skill

Pick the skill your career uses. Promotions depend on it, not on vibes.

04
Day 4

Do a side gig

Carry load at Balogun (₦2,250) or help at the buka. No skills required.

05
Day 5

Eat cheap

Amala Shitta fixes hunger from ₦100. Save the club for later.

06
Friday

Ring-fence rent

Put rent and any loan repayment aside before anything fun. Party money is not rent money.

07
Saturday

Rent day

Rent leaves in the morning. Come up short and it becomes debt — and Baba Landlord visits.

Survive that and week two gets much easier: you’ll have a salary, a skill on the rise and a little cash for your first upgrade. Just don’t spend ₦500,000 in one weekend if you roll a Nepo Baby.

Keep your six needs topped up

When these run low, your mood and your work both drop — yes, hygiene counts.
